Reprise en anglais de Jonquière avec l’aimable autorisation de Plume Latraverse et Stephen Faulkner, US Too de Cruel Mirage est en quelque sorte un regard critique de deux des Pères fondateurs de la constitution américaine (Thomas Jefferson et Benjamin Franklin) sur les États-Unis d’Amérique d’aujourd’hui. Critique, sans être nominative, la chanson dresse un portrait plutôt triste et parfois acerbe de la situation aux USA et se pose la question sur la suite à y donner. Elle fait référence à plusieurs symboles américains (drapeau, constitution, hymne national,…), sans pour autant être dépourvue de sous-entendus. Le titre US Too prête lui aussi à réflexion en jouant sur la signification du US, qui peut être interprété par nous ou United States [of America]. Le choix de l’image représentant cette chanson est finalement la dernière pièce du casse-tête avec une photo d’une larme traversant un drapeau américain peint sur la joue d’une jeune femme. L’objectif de la chanson est de toucher le public en capitalisant sur le charme et les côtés tant sincères que touchants de Jonquière, ainsi que de soulever des interrogations et ouvrir des consciences à travers une remise en question sur les États-Unis d’Amérique d’aujourd’hui, et par ricochet notre propre place dans le monde et notre rôle individuel dans la société.

Critical, without naming anyone directly, the song paints a rather somber and sometimes biting portrait of the current situation, and questions what direction should be taken next. It references several American symbols (the flag, the Constitution, the national anthem, etc.) while still carrying a number of underlying meanings.The title US Too also invites reflection by playing on the dual meaning of US, which can be understood as us or United States [of America].
